Füleky Tokaji Kabar, Vinnai vineyard, Tarcal village, 2021

Kabar is the youngest grape variety between the six licensed grapes of Tokaj Region. It’s a cross of Hárslevelű and Bouvier, an early ripening grape compared to the two main grapes of Tokaj, Furmint and Hárslevelű. It produces nice quality noble grapes almost every year. Ideal for production of both, dry and sweet wines. In case of dry wine production the date of the harvest is crucial, as it may become semi-dry or semi-sweet very quickly.

Kabar 2021 has medium lemon colour. Discreet, but pleasant, slightly fruity nose, with hints of lemon. On the palate it delivers a good acidity with an off-dry feeling, but remains tight enough due the acidity. Chalky-mineral notes, the palate is very refreshing. Medium plus finish.

Serving at 8-10 °C.

Serving suggestions:

fishes, fishes and fishes, could be perfect with a whole seabass baked in salt crust (here, you shouldn’t use much of fragrant spices to overcome the fresh fish)

fish carpaccio / tartare / sashimi

light grilled dishes, grilled cheese, chicken/turkey breast with salads

mixed green salad with croutons with toasted goat’s cheese

taboouleh, again, but here with a load of pomegranate seeds
