Kéknyelű, 2020

It is an ancient Hungarian variety, probably from Badacsony. Old records identified it as the northern Italian variety Picolit, but this has now been refuted by research. It is a special, unique variety, which is essentially only found in its limited home, around Lake Balaton, and more precisely in Badacsony. Its flowers are female, which makes it difficult to pollinate, so it is planted together with Budai Zöld or Rózsakő to help. The variety is registered on less than 50 hectares, of which 47 are in Badacsony. It is generally produced in a dry style. It is characterised by restrained fruit and spice and a certain leanness, which can be complemented by a salty, oily texture. The variety can boast peach, cherry blossom, almond, citrus fruit, herbal and mineral notes.
