Zöld Veltelíni, 2022

A variety of Austrian origin which, according to the latest research, is a natural cross between Traminer and St. Georgen. In German-speaking countries it is called Grüner Veltliner. It is the most common variety in Austria and is found mainly in Lower Austria, Burgenland and the provinces of Vienna. In Hungary it is grown on almost 1,500 hectares. It usually produces light, fruity, spicy wines, but its high acidity also makes it a popular base for sparkling wines. The wines are rarely truly powerful, spicy, or oak-aged, as the emphasis is usually on fruitiness and lightness.
