Its brutish strength was tamed by long barrel elevage. The traits typical of barrel-aged reds are clearly on display here, with a refined spiciness contrasting nicely with a masculine presence. This is a truly elegant red wine, it’s not about tannins and alcohol but finesse and elegance. The nose is dominated by dark berry fruit, especially blackcurrant, blueberry and sour cherry, nicely complemented and framed by the sweet spice aromas of the barrel. The persistent finish ends with a kiss of sour cherry and sweet spices.
