Kékfrankos is still the most widely planted blue grape in Hungary (about 8000 ha). As it is a Pontus variety, it can be vinified in many different styles (i.e. rosé, light red and age-worthy red). In this case, it shows what a Kékfrankos made from grapes harvested at optimum ripeness can achieve, aided by a well-judged ageing process.
